A speeding private bus, after reportedly hitting two other vehicles, crashed into a motorcycle and a parked three-wheeler near Kaluwala Junction on the Kadawatha-Ganemulla road, leaving the motorcyclist injured.

On the afternoon of November 2, 2026, a terrifying sequence of events unfolded along the Kadawatha-Ganemulla (Route No. 223) main road near Kaluwala Junction. A light-blue TATA private bus, operating on the Kadawatha-Ganemulla route, was being driven in a severely reckless and aggressive manner. According to eyewitnesses and preliminary local reports, the bus had already clipped at least two other vehicles along the stretch without stopping before reaching the junction. Failing to control its speed, the aggressive vehicle veered dangerously and collided head-on with an oncoming black scooter motorcycle and subsequently crashed into a stationary red three-wheeler parked by the roadside. The impact was violent, dragging the scooter underneath the heavy front bumper and wheels of the bus, crushing it completely and causing extensive structural damage. The injured motorcyclist was promptly rescued by alert area residents and rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention. The chaotic incident caused a massive traffic gridlock along the busy Kadawatha-Ganemulla route. The Kadawatha and Ganemulla Police Traffic Divisions acted swiftly, taking the bus driver into custody and launching a comprehensive ongoing investigation into the multiple hit-and-run crashes. Road Safety Takeaway: Aggressive driving by public transport operators chasing tight schedule targets on narrow suburban roads poses a catastrophic threat. Fleeing after an initial minor impact often triggers a devastating cascade of severe secondary accidents. Motorists and riders of two- and three-wheelers must remain exceptionally vigilant; if an erratic or out-of-control heavy vehicle is spotted approaching, pull over immediately to safety. In the event of an emergency, always contact the 1990 Suwa Seriya ambulance service without delay.
