🚨 දක්ෂිණ අධිවේගී මාර්ගයේ (E01) 3 වන කිලෝමීටර් කණුව ආසන්නයේදී අද (2026/10/13) අලුයම බරපතළ රිය අනතුරක් සිදුවිය. මාර්ගයේ ගමන් කරමින් තිබූ ඉත්තෑවෙකු දැක ඉදිරියෙන් ධාවනය වූ ටාටා (TATA) වර්ගයේ ප්‍රයිම්මුවර් බහාලුම් ලොරි රථය (Container Prime Mover) තම වේගය අඩාල කිරීමට තිරිංග යොදා ඇති අතර, ඒ පිටුපසින් පැමිණි කළු පැහැති ටොයෝටා ඇක්වා (Toyota Aqua / Prius C) වර්ගයේ දෙමුහුන් මෝටර් රථයට වේගය පාලනය කරගත නොහැකිව බහාලුම් ට්‍රේලරයේ පසුපස යකඩ බම්පරය යටට තදින් කඩා වැදී ඇත. ගැටුමේ ප්‍රබලත්වය හේතුවෙන් මෝටර් රථයේ වහලය, ඉදිරිපස රියදුරු කුටිය සහ A-කණු සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම ගැලවී පොඩිපට්ටම් වී විනාශ විය. අනතුරින් මෝටර් රථයේ ගමන් ගත් දෙදෙනෙකු බරපතළ තුවාල ලබා ඇති අතර, අධිවේගී මාර්ග ගිලන්රථ සේවය මඟින් ඔවුන් කඩිනමින් ප්‍රතිකාර සඳහා රෝහල්ගත කිරීමට පියවර ගැණිනි. අධිවේගී මාර්ග රථවාහන පොලිස් අංශය මඟින් අනතුර පිළිබඳ වැඩිදුර විමර්ශන සිදුකරනු ලබයි. අධිවේගී මාර්ගවල යටට ඇදී යාමේ අනතුරු (Underride Collisions): බරැති කන්ටේනර් ට්‍රේලර් රථවල බිම් මට්ටමේ සිට උස (Ground Clearance) මෝටර් රථයක බොනට් උසට වඩා වැඩි බැවින්, පසුපස ගැටුම්වලදී මෝටර් රථය කෙළින්ම ට්‍රේලරය යටට ඇදී යයි. මෙහිදී මෝටර් රථයේ Crumple Zone ආවරණ මඟහැරී කෙළින්ම වහලයේ A-කණු මතට කම්පනය එල්ල වීම නිසා මගීන්ට හිස සහ ගෙල ආශ්‍රිතව අතිශය මාරාන්තික තුවාල සිදුවේ.
අධිවේගී මාර්ගයේ සතුන් ගැවසීම සහ හදිසි තිරිංග (Wildlife Hazards & Safe Buffer): අධිවේගී මාර්ග ආශ්‍රිතව ඉත්තෑවන්, මොනරුන් හෝ බල්ලන් වැනි සතුන් රාත්‍රී කාලයේදී මාර්ගයට පිවිසීමේ අවදානමක් පවතී. ඉදිරියෙන් ඇති වාහනයක් එවැනි සතෙකු බේරාගැනීමට හෝ හදිසි බාධකයකදී තිරිංග යෙදුවහොත් තමන්ගේ වාහනය සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම නවත්වා ගැනීමට හැකිවන පරිදි අවම වශයෙන් මීටර් 80–100 ක පරතරයක් (3-Second Following Distance) රාත්‍රී කාලයේදී පවත්වා ගැනීම අනිවාර්ය වේ.
රාත්‍රී අධිවේගී ධාවනයේදී ප්‍රතිචාර කාලය (Night-time Perception & Reaction Distance): රාත්‍රී අඳුරේදී ඉදිරියෙන් ඇති වාහනයක තිරිංග ලාම්පු (Brake lights) දැල්වෙන වේගය සහ දුර නිවැරදිව තක්සේරු කිරීමට රියදුරන්ට අමතර තත්පර 1.5–2 ක කාලයක් ගතවේ. නිසි පරතරය නොතැබීම මෙවැනි බිහිසුණු ගැටුම්වලට සෘජුවම මඟපාදයි.
හදිසි අනතුරකදී වහාම 1969 අධිවේගී මෙහෙයුම් මැදිරිය හෝ 1990 සුවසැරිය අමතන්න.
🚨 A serious car accident occurred early today (10/13/2026) near the 3rd kilometer post of the Southern Expressway (E01). The container prime mover (Container Prime Mover) that was driving ahead saw a pawn on the road and braked to slow down its speed, and the black Toyota Aqua / Prius C hybrid car that came behind it could not control the speed and crashed hard under the rear iron bumper of the container trailer. Due to the force of the collision, the car's roof, front driver's cabin and A-pillars were completely detached and crushed. Two people traveling in the car were seriously injured in the accident, and the Highway Ambulance Service rushed them to the hospital for treatment. The Highway Traffic Police Division is conducting further investigations into the accident.

Underride Collisions on Highways: Since the ground clearance of heavy container trailers is greater than the height of the bonnet of a car, the car is pulled directly under the trailer in rear-end collisions. Here, the car avoids the Crumple Zone covers and hits the A-pillars of the roof directly, resulting in extremely fatal head and neck injuries to the passengers.
Wildlife Hazards & Safe Buffer on the highway: There is a risk of animals such as hippos, peacocks or dogs entering the road at night. It is mandatory to maintain a minimum distance of 80-100 meters (3-Second Following Distance) at night so that a vehicle in front can save such an animal or brake in case of an emergency obstacle to stop their vehicle completely. Night-time Perception & Reaction Distance: Drivers need an extra 1.5-2 seconds to correctly estimate the speed and distance of the brake lights of a vehicle ahead in the dark. Failure to maintain proper spacing directly leads to such horrific collisions. In case of emergency, call 1969 emergency room or 1990 ambulance immediately.
