A luxury bus traveling from Trincomalee to Colombo suddenly caught fire at Aluthoyya on the Kantale-Habarana route and was completely destroyed.

🚨 A luxury passenger transport bus (Micro / Serena Luxury Coach) which was carrying passengers from Trincomalee to Colombo, was completely burnt to ashes in a sudden fire at Aluthoyya area on the Kantale-Habarana main road today (10/11/2026) at around 01:00 am. It is suspected that the fire was caused by a mechanical fault or electrical leakage in the bus while it was running, and as soon as the driver saw the fire, he stopped the bus on the side of the road and took steps to evacuate the passengers immediately. Due to the fact that the fire spread throughout the entire bus in a very short time, the frame of the bus, the seats and the luggage of the passengers were completely destroyed. Due to timely evacuation of the passengers, there was no loss of life and the police is investigating the incident. Short circuits or fuel leaks are the main cause of such massive fires. Emergency Exits & Hammers: It is essential to keep the emergency exit doors (Emergency Doors) in proper working condition and safety hammers (Safety Hammers) that can break the glass installed at the appropriate places in fully covered air-conditioned buses for the safety of passengers. Use of Fire Extinguishers: At least two standard fire extinguisher cylinders should be kept in working condition in the buses, and the driver and assistant should be aware to activate them at the first second of seeing smoke.

ධාවනය වෙමින් තිබියදී බස් රථයේ හටගත් කාර්මික දෝෂයක් හෝ විදුලි කාන්දුවක් හේතුවෙන් මෙම ගින්න හටගෙන ඇති බවට සැක කෙරෙන අතර, ගින්න දුටු සැණින් රියදුරු විසින් රථය මාර්ගය පසෙකට කර නවතා මගීන් කඩිනමින් ඉවත් කරගැනීමට පියවර ගෙන ඇත. ගින්න ඉතා කෙටි වේලාවකින් මුළු බස් රථය පුරාම පැතිර යාම හේතුවෙන් බස් රථයේ සැකිල්ල, අසුන් සහ මගීන්ගේ බඩුබාහිරාදිය සහමුලින්ම විනාශ වී තිබේ. මගීන් නියමිත වේලාවට ඉවත් කරගැනීම නිසා කිසිදු ජීවිත හානියක් සිදුවී නොමැති අතර, සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් පොලීසිය විමර්ශන පවත්වයි.
