A silver Suzuki Alto crashed into a concrete bridge parapet on the Mankulam-Oddusuddan road on November 3rd. The vehicle was severely damaged, but occupants survived as the car remained on the bridge.
On the afternoon of November 3rd, a serious road accident occurred on the Mankulam-Oddusuddan main road in the Northern Province. A silver Suzuki Alto 800, traveling at high speed, lost control and collided violently with the concrete parapet of a bridge.
The impact was severe, causing the front engine compartment, bumper, hood, and battery to be completely dislodged and shattered. The windshield was smashed, and the vehicle's airbags were deployed upon impact. While debris from the front of the car scattered into the canal below, the vehicle itself remained on the bridge, preventing a potentially fatal plunge into the water.
The injured occupants were promptly rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment. The Mankulam Police are currently conducting further investigations into the incident.
This incident serves as a critical reminder regarding the dangers of narrow bridge approaches. Drivers must exercise extreme caution near culverts and bridges, as these areas often feature structural hazards. Compact cars like the Alto have limited crumple zones; therefore, maintaining speed limits and wearing seatbelts is essential for survival in such collisions. Always remain vigilant near water bodies to avoid the risk of vehicle submersion. In case of an emergency, contact the 1990 Suwa Seriya ambulance service immediately.
