🚨 Sri Langama 'Sisu Sariya' bus, which was running from Valapane, Theripah to Nildandahinna in Nuwara Eliya District, stopped on the road today (10/12/2026) due to a sudden mechanical failure. In order to take the disabled bus to the depot after the accident, a red colored bus belonging to SLTB Breakdown Service has arrived and started towing it. While being towed on the narrow mountain road, the front main axle and the pair of wheels came off the body and stopped in the middle of the road due to the failure of the front leaf springs and the nails holding the axle of the industrial service bus. Fortunately, the bus was driven at a low speed while being towed, and no one was injured, but the narrow road was completely blocked, causing severe disruption to traffic in the area. If the front leaf springs, U-bolts and chassis mounts are in poor condition, the axle can come off completely.
Technical fitness of service vehicles (Maintenance of Breakdown Recovery Vehicles): Industrial service vehicles used to rescue or tow other vehicles must be in maximum mechanical maintenance. Buses that are years old should have their chassis and suspension systems properly tested before being used for such high-stress jobs. Safe Towing Measures on Narrow Mountain Roads: While the use of Rigid Tow Bar is appreciated while towing vehicles on mountain roads, maximum safe speed limits and attention of support staff are mandatory due to deep slopes on both sides.

අනතුරුව එම අක්‍රිය වූ බස් රථය ඩිපෝව වෙත රැගෙන යාම සඳහා වලපනේ ඩිපෝවට අයත් ලංගම කාර්මික සේවා (SLTB Breakdown Service) රතු පැහැති බස් රථයක් පැමිණ එය ඇදගෙන යාමේ කටයුතු (Towing) ආරම්භ කර තිබේ. එලෙස පටු කඳුකර මාර්ගයේ ඇදගෙන යමින් සිටියදී, අනපේක්ෂිත ලෙස කාර්මික සේවා බස් රථයේ ඉදිරිපස දුනු පත් (Leaf Springs) සහ ඇක්සලය රඳවා තිබූ ඇණ ගැලවී යාමෙන් ඉදිරිපස ප්‍රධාන ඇක්සලය හා රෝද යුගලය සහමුලින්ම බඳෙන් ගැලවී ගොස් මාර්ගය මැද නතර වීමෙන් මෙම අකරතැබ්බය සිදුවිය.
වාසනාවකට මෙන් ඇදගෙන යන අවස්ථාවේ අඩු වේගයකින් ධාවනය වීම නිසා බස් රථය ප්‍රපාතයකට පෙරළී යාමක් හෝ කිසිදු පුද්ගල තුවාල ලැබීමක් සිදු නොවූ නමුත්, පටු මාර්ගය සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම අවහිර වීමෙන් ප්‍රදේශයේ ගමනාගමනයට දැඩි බාධා එල්ල විය.
