A Cessna Citation Latitude private jet that flew from Istanbul, Turkey, ran off the runway while landing at the Misrata International Airport in Libya. A fire broke out in the plane during the landing, and the airport's emergency firefighting and rescue teams immediately intervened and took steps to control the fire. The crew of three on board managed to escape safely without any serious injuries. Turkish media reports that this private jet is owned by businessman Hamdi Akin, chairman of Akfen Holding, a leading company in Turkey. Some foreign media have also reported that there was a prominent person in the plane at the time of the accident.
